Movie Animatronics - Building a radio controlled mechanical mask - 3 DVD set NTSC
This is far more than a simple instructional DVD,
it's a complete video-course which takes you
through the creation of a radio controlled
mechanical mask. There are 16 chapters divided
in 3 discs for a total of nearly 5 hours of footage.
The mask created is animated by 2 radio
systems and a total of 10 servos. Many
techniques are simplified so you won't need
expensive machinery such as a lathe or a router.
Total running time 290 minutes
NTSC Version, to be viewed in the U.S. and countries which adopted the NTSC system |

Movie Animatronics - VOL 2 Building an advanced eye mechanism NTSC
In our previous video we demostrated the
entire process of building a radio controlled
mechanical mask. However, the eye mechanism
created was extremely simple and only involved
left/right eye movement and upper lid blink.
Because the realism of an animatronic
character depends greatly on the animation
of the eyes, sometimes it’s necessary to design
something more complex which can imitate the
natural eye and eyelid movement more
effectively. The mechanism created in this video
involves 2 axis eye rotation and blinking is
achieved with the movement of both the upper
and lower eyelids. But the most interesting thing
about this design is that the eyelids follow the
eyes when they look up and down. The entire
assembly requires only 3 servos. We will also
take a look at AutoCAD 10 software to design
our mechanics.
Most of the parts created are not metal, so
no machining skills are required.
The DVD includes plans in PDF and DWG format.
IMPORTANT:
This DVD can be played in most players worldwide, however it might not be recognized as a video DVD by some older home players. This is due to the presence of the "Extras" folder containing the CAD files. |
